Weekend Ignatian Retreat

Come away from the noise of the world for a silent weekend retreat to learn more about how God talks to you through the Scriptures and in the movement of your own heart. Learn the rules of Ignatian discernment, encounter Jesus in the message He has for you through the Scriptures, and understand who and whose you are as a son or daughter of God. Expect daily talks, time for silent prayer, opportunities for Mass, confession and a meeting with a spiritual directors.

The Ignatian Weekend Retreat, for men and women, is an introductory retreat in Ignatian Spirituality. During the weekend, you will experience silence, spiritual direction, and private prayer as we work through the 14 rules of St. Ignatius’ discernment of spirits. This retreat is facilitated by Dawn Hausmann and Bert Schomberger. 

Retreat fee is $225 and includes all meals, materials and private lodging. This retreat begins with dinner at 7:00pm on Friday the 28th and ends mid-afternoon on Sunday the 30th

About the Facilitators

Dawn Hausmann is the Director of Consecrated Vocations, Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry, and Delegate of Consecrated Life for the Lansing Diocese. She has been serving the Diocese of Lansing since 2011. She has a degree in Social Work from MSU and a Master in Theology from the Pontifical John Paul Institute for the Studies of Marriage and Family in Washington D.C.  She has a passion for spreading John Paul II's Theology of the Body, teaching Ignatian Spirituality, and for helping people journey in vocational discernment.  She herself has responded to a call to the consecrated life in the vocation of consecrated virginity.  On November 16th 2019, Dawn was consecrated to a life of virginity as a bride of Christ by Bishop Boyea on the Feast of St. Gertrude.

Bert Schomberger  feels blessed to be part of the weekend retreats at St. Francis! Meeting and serving the people who come here to hear God’s call in their lives is always source of joy. Along with being on staff at SFRC she is the coordinator of Missions for the Diocese of Lansing, serves as a Spiritual Director, is a teacher for the Called and Gifted Program, and graduated from  Sacred Heart Seminary’s Master of Pastoral Studies program. Bert has been married to George for 40 years, has two grown sons and more interesting hobbies than time to do them! 

About the Facility

This retreat takes place in the Bethany House on the grounds on St. Francis Retreat Center. Bethany House guest rooms are single occupancy and each have a private bathroom. The entire facility is air conditioned and there is Wi-Fi in the main gathering areas.

Meals may be served in the Retreat House dining room, which is a short walk across the parking lot. There is a refrigerator for guest use in each dining room if you would like to bring some of your own food or snacks.
